"No," Faye said.

"No?" I asked with a curious voice.

"I left the studio around 9:30 PM, then came back to my apartment."

"That's interesting. Are you sure about that?"

She stammered, “I’m positive.”

I started putting the pieces together. "Do you live alone, Ms. Winters?"

"No. I live with my boyfriend."

"Is he there now?"

“Uh...”

"Can I speak with him?"

"I'm sorry, he just stepped out the door. Can I have him call you back?”

"Yes. I'm assuming you have my number on your caller ID."

"Yes."

"May I remind you that giving false information is a violation of the law and a punishable offense."

She went silent.

"Are you sure you were at your apartment between 10:00 PM and midnight?"

"I'm sure."

"And you were alone at that time?"

She hesitated again. "Yes."

"Thank you for your time. Please get in touch if anything changes."

I ended the call and slipped the phone back into my pocket.

Burke had been eavesdropping while shooting.

"Your alibi doesn't check out," I said.

He lowered the camera and glared at me. "What?!"

“Faye says she wasn't with you."

Anger tensed his face. "She's lying."

I shrugged. "I suspect she doesn’t want her boyfriend to know about your little affair. But as it stands. You don't have an alibi."

"Why would I need an alibi?"

"Maybe you were angry about the money. Maybe you went over to Kennedy's yoga studio and confronted her. Things got heated. Then they got out of hand."

I was just trying to push his buttons.

"You need to leave. I'm done talking to you."

Nicolette and the crew watched the exchange with wide eyes. There was just enough doubt in their minds that they all began to look at Burke just a little differently. Was he capable of murder?

We left the studio and headed back to Diver Down. We stopped at the bar and chatted with Teagan, catching her up on the events.

We perused the menu. Jack ordered the pineapple BBQ pork ribs, and I went with the jerk chicken wrap.

Wild Fury was scheduled to go on at 10:00 PM, so we had a little time to kill. We met the guys in the band at Volcanic for a little pregame activity, then headed to Taffy Beach.

The place was packed with drunk, sunburned revelers that had been going at it all day. The first-aid tents were full of college kids who'd overindulged in the sun and gotten dehydrated or ingested something they shouldn't have.

At 10:00 PM, I took the stage and introduced the band. Dizzy’s guitar thundered, and Styxx climbed behind the drums and stomped the kick. Crash’s bass boomed, and Jack howled into the microphone as he rushed on stage. He screamed, “Hello, Coconut Key!"

The crowd went wild.

“Is everybody having a good time?"

The audience roared again.

"Well, that's just not good enough. It's time to take it up a notch."

There were more howls.

The band broke into Razorblade Romance. A freight train of sound demolished the audience. As usual, Wild Fury brought their brand of party rock like no other.

Girls flashed the band, and various undergarments were tossed on stage.

A good time was had by all.

It was a little after midnight by the time we made it back to the boat with a select entourage of groupies.
